POPPY CROCHET PATTERNS. – collected and modified by

Use
red 8 ply yarn – one ball makes many, many poppies! Use a 3.5 crochet hook.
Poppy One -
Foundation – Work 3ch (counts as 1st tr) and 11 tr into an
adjustable loop. Sl st to close round
(12 st)
Round
1 – 3ch (counts as 1st tr), work one
further tr into the st at base of chain and then 2 tr into every st.
Sl
st to close round (24 st)
Petal
row 1 – 3ch, work a further 2 tr into the st at
base of chain. Work 3 tr into each of next 5 st (18 st for this petal)
Stop and turn the work.
Petal
row 2 -1 ch, 1 dc into st at base of chain. 1 dc
and 1 htr into next st. 1 tr into each
of next 14st. 1 htr and 1 dc into next
st. 1dc and sl st into next (final) st.Cut yarn and fasten off.
Rejoin the yarn to the next st along on round
1, ready to repeat the petal instructions for the next petal. Repeat for 2 further petals, making 4 petals
in total.
Make 4 chain and join in a ring with a
slip stitch.
Round
1 –Make 3 chain, then make 15 trebles into the
ring. Join with a slip stitch to the 1st
treble at the beginning of the round to form a ring. (16 stitches)
Petals

Row
1 –Make 3 chain (this counts as the 1st
treble), and 1 treble into same space, then make 2 trebles into each of the
next 3 stitches. (8 stitches in total), turn.
Row
2 –Make 3 chain.
Then make 1 treble into each of the next 2 stitches. Then 2 trebles into each of the next 4
stitches, then 1 treble into each of the last 2 stitches, turn.
Row
3 –Make 1 chain and 1 double crochet into 1st
stitch. *Now make 2 chain, 1 double crochet into next stitch*. Repeat from * to * until end of petal. Fasten off.
Re-join yarn to next stitch of round 1
and repeat Row 1-3 to make next petal.
Continue in this manner until 4 petals are
made
Make a slip ring.
1st
round -3 ch, 10 treble crochet into ring. Pull the slip ring tight to close centre of
ring and slip stitch in top of 3ch.
2nd
round – 3 ch, I treble crochet into first stitch, 2
treble crochet into each stitch to last stitch, slip stitch in top chain of 3
chain.
3rd
round – 3 ch, 2 treble crochet into first stitch, then
3 treble crochet into each stitch to last stitch. Slip stitch in top ch of 3
chain.
4th round -3 chain, 1 treble
into first stitch, 2 treble into each stitch to last stitch, slip
stitch in top of of 3 ch and fasten off.
Poppy Four –
1st
round – 3 ch, 10 treble crochet into ring. Pull the slip ring tight to close centre and
slip stitch in top ch of 3 ch.
2nd
round – 3 ch, 4 trtr in beginning of the 3ch, in
next st 5 trtr *in next stitch 1 dtr and 4 trtr, in the next stitch 5 trtr.
REPEAT FROM * AROUND ENDING WITH SLIP ST
IN TOP OF BEGINNING CHAIN. FASTEN OFF.
DARN IN END.
Poppy centres – a black button or crochet with black similar to first round, only maybe 6-8 trs – experiment. – Eyelash wool may be sewn around black centres for stamens
